Paper Crafts magazine Presents: Card Creations Vol. 10 Blog Hop

Hello,

Welcome to Paper Crafts Magazine Card Creations Vol. 10 Blog Hop. I am honoured to be part of this blog hop and today I am going to share a card, personal top 10 tips on getting published and one issue of this magazine is up for graps for one lovely commenter :)

As Paper Crafts is celebrating 10th anniversary on this issue. Therefore, 10 of us were asked to create a card that are relating to 10. I've create a 10th anniversary card for Card Creations. To create this card, I first mask the background of the card using Washi tape and leave a blank line for the sentiment. Die cut number, birdie and branch and adhere them on card.

10 Tips on getting published
1. Study
When receiving a call, it is important that you carefully study the instruction of the call. For example what is the call for? What is their main theme/topic?

2. Research
Before start making card, it would be great if you could start brainstorming some ideas by sketching them down. It would make things easier once you start making card and you can always refer back the sketch again and again. More research also can be done through some inspiration photos, colour inspiration or even current trend. This can be found at Pinterest, Moxie Fab website etc.

3. Style
As Paper Crafts calls always look for variety of style. For example, Fun & Cute, Clean & Graphic, Classy & Elegant and Shabby Chic & Vintage. Therefore, it is good to define your own style to see which style suite you the best and this could possibly find out your own strength too. Make sure your style is the one that fits into the categories. Remember, be yourself but not anyone else!

4. Discipline
Set a goal, for example how many cards can I make into this call? and stick with the goal. You would be surprise that the goal motivates you to create even more cards. A reminder, not just for the sake of submitting quantity cards but most importantly the quality.

5. Materials/Products
Sometimes, it is not necessarily to have a lot of materials/ products to create a card. Personally, I love mixing around new and old things to create cards or material that I have in my stash. I strongly believe cleverly use of products could bring unexpected outcome.

6. Study
It is not a bad idea to study your own card. For example how can you improve your card?

7. Photo Shooting
Always shoot your card in a clear neutral background, avoid using pattern paper or complicated background. This is to avoid causes any distraction on the card.

8. Supply List/Instructions
Paper Crafts calls always required a supply list and instructions. Therefore, it is important for you to keep reference of ALL the materials used as closely as possible. To avoid being missed out certain references, I normally will write or type it down once the card is finished done.

9. Keep Trying/Never Give Up
There is no harm to keep trying. Cards can't be picked up unless someone are submitting. Be brave to submit! Never give up!

10. ENJOY
The last but not least is to enjoy every single moment of card making. Even if the card is not being selected, you still have something to be proud of, at least you have ENJOY every single moment of card making.

This is just my personal experience throughout the journey of submitting cards to Paper Crafts Magazine and I hope it does encourage you in submitting cards. Please do continuing visit bellow designer's blog for more inspiration!

Fabulous card, I just celebrated my 10th wedding anniversary and if I'd gotten around to making a card (which I didn't) this one would be good (especially since I have all those pieces), might channel your card for a friend's up coming anniversary... that one might make the window of opportunity.
